What is Protest in Sailing?

The formal allegation that another boat broke a rule, hailed on the water and decided ashore by a protest committee or jury after a hearing. A successful protest typically disqualifies the offending boat from that race.

Example: The port-starboard incident at the top mark went to the protest room.
