What is Pin end and committee boat in Sailing?

The two ends of the start line: the committee boat (carrying the race officials, flags and sound signals) at one end and the pin buoy at the other. Sailors fight for whichever end is closer to the wind or the favoured side of the course.

Example: The pin was heavily favoured, and half the fleet fought for it.
