What is Catamaran in Sailing?

A twin-hulled boat, faster than similar single-hull boats because of its stability and low drag. The Olympic Nacra 17 is a foiling catamaran sailed by a mixed male-female crew.

Example: The catamaran fleet hit the top mark two minutes before the dinghies.
