What is Through ball in Football?

A pass threaded between or over defenders into the space behind the defensive line, for a teammate to run onto. It is the classic weapon against a high defensive line and the pass most often flirting with the offside law.

Example: One perfectly weighted through ball split the centre-backs and put the striker one-on-one.
