What is High press / pressing in Football?
Aggressively hunting the ball high up the pitch, with forwards and midfielders closing down defenders as they try to build from the back. The aim is to win possession near the opponents' goal, where turnovers become instant chances. It demands fitness and coordinated pressing 'triggers', and leaves space behind if bypassed.
Example: Their high press forced the goalkeeper into a rushed pass straight to the striker.
