What is Relegation and promotion in Football?
The system linking league tiers: the worst-placed teams in a division drop down (relegation) and the best from the tier below come up (promotion). It makes the bottom of a league table as dramatic as the top — three clubs go down from the EPL and La Liga each season.
Example: A final-day win kept them up and relegated their rivals instead.
