What is Penalty kick in Football?

A direct free shot from the penalty mark, 11 metres from goal, with only the goalkeeper to beat — awarded when the defending team commits a direct-free-kick offence (foul or handball) inside its own penalty area. Around 75-80% of penalties are scored at the top level.

Example: The winger was tripped in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
