What is Own goal in Football?

A goal a player accidentally scores against their own team — for example, a deflected clearance or misdirected header past their own keeper. It counts exactly like any other goal for the opposition and is credited to the defender in the records.

Example: A cruel deflection turned the cross into an own goal off the captain's shin.
