What is Extra time in Football?

Two additional 15-minute halves played when a knockout match is level after 90 minutes, before any penalty shootout. Both halves are played in full — the golden-goal rule no longer exists. Teams usually receive one extra substitution for it.

Example: The 2022 World Cup final was 3-3 after extra time and went to penalties.
