What is Takeoff in Diving?

The launch phase: from both feet on springboard (standing or after an approach), and from standing, running or armstand starts on platform. Judges score its boldness, balance and distance — too close to the apparatus is dangerous, drifting too far away wastes height.

Example: Her reverse takeoff stayed tight to the board but safely clear — exactly what judges want.
