What is Hurdle in Diving?

The final step-and-jump of a springboard approach, in which the diver leaps onto the end of the board on both feet to drive it down and ride the rebound into the dive. A mistimed hurdle wrecks the dive before it starts.

Example: Her long, high hurdle is why her forward dives tower over the field's.
