What is Degree of difficulty (DD) in Diving?

The preset multiplier attached to every dive, computed by formula from its somersaults, twists, position, group and takeoff. Judges score execution only; the DD then scales that score, so harder dives have higher ceilings. The hardest dives in elite finals carry DDs above 4.0.

Example: She upgraded her final dive to a higher DD to chase the leader.
