What is Springboard in Diving?

The flexible diving board — 3m above the water in Olympic events — that divers depress and ride upward for extra height. Its stiffness is tuned per-dive with an adjustable fulcrum, and timing the board's recoil is the discipline's core skill.

Example: His hurdle timing on the springboard gave him half a metre more height than the field.
