What is Somersault in Diving?

A full head-over-heels rotation in flight. Dive numbers count them in halves — a 'two-and-a-half' ends head-first where a double ends feet-first — and packing more somersaults into the same drop is the main driver of difficulty.

Example: From 10m the best men now land four-and-a-half somersault dives.
