What is Failed dive in Diving?

A dive scored zero by the referee — for performing a dive other than the one declared, landing essentially flat or off-line beyond the rules' limits, or other listed violations. In a no-discard sport, a failed dive usually ends medal hopes on the spot.

Example: He lost his hand position mid-twist and the wrong dive came out — failed, zero.
