What is Maul in Rugby?

Formed when the ball carrier is held by an opponent and a teammate binds on, with the ball off the ground. The attacking side may drive the maul downfield — the rolling maul from a lineout is a prolific try-scoring tactic.

Example: The forwards rumbled the maul 15 metres before the hooker flopped over.
