What is Right of way (priority) in Fencing?
The rule in foil and sabre deciding who scores when both fencers hit: the point goes to the fencer who correctly initiated the attack, or who took priority away with a parry, a beat, or by making the attack miss. Épée has no right of way — both fencers can score at once.
Example: Both lights fired, but right of way gave the touch to the attacker.
