What is Foil in Fencing?
The light thrusting weapon descended from the smallsword's training weapon. Only point hits on the torso and mask bib are valid, and simultaneous hits are settled by right of way. Traditionally the discipline fencers learn first.
Example: In foil his hit to the arm was merely off-target.
