What is Épée in Fencing?
The heaviest of the three weapons, a stiff thrusting sword with a large bell guard. The entire body is valid target, there is no right of way, and both fencers score if they hit almost simultaneously — the closest discipline to a real duel.
Example: The épée bout crawled at 2-2 as both hunted the other's wrist.
