What is Nightwatchman in Cricket?
In Tests, a lower-order batter promoted late in the day to shield a top-order teammate from a tricky evening spell, accepting the risk with a cheaper wicket. A small piece of chess unique to multi-day cricket.
Example: The nightwatchman survived the final six overs and frustrated the bowlers next morning too.
