What is Sweep rowing in Rowing?

The discipline in which each rower pulls a single oar with both hands, on either the port or starboard side of the boat. Sweep boats — pairs, fours and eights — need rowers balanced on both sides to travel straight.

Example: The pair, four and eight are all sweep-rowing classes.
