What is Wash riding in Canoeing?

Paddling on the wake of another boat to save energy, like drafting in cycling. It is prohibited in sprint lane racing — boats must keep to their lanes — and umpires can disqualify offenders.

Example: The umpire warned the crew for drifting off line toward a rival's wash.
