What is Break-out / break-in in Canoeing?

Crossing the boundary between the main current and an eddy: breaking out means leaving the current into the eddy, breaking in means re-entering the flow. The boat crosses a sharp change in water speed, so edge control decides whether the move is fast or a capsize.

Example: His break-in below gate 7 was the fastest of the final.
