What is Pick and roll in Basketball?
The most common play in basketball. A teammate sets a screen (a 'pick') on the ball-handler's defender, then 'rolls' toward the basket looking for a pass. It forces two defenders to make a split-second choice — switch, fight through, or double the ball — and every option can be punished.
Example: Stockton and Malone ran the pick and roll for 18 seasons and defences still couldn't stop it.
