What is Rover in Australian Rules Football?
A traditional name for the nimble midfielder who 'roves' the ruckman's taps at stoppages and sweeps up the loose ball. Part of the classic 'followers' trio: ruck, ruck-rover, rover.
Example: The rover read the tap perfectly and burst from the pack.
