What is Hitout in Australian Rules Football?

A ruckman's tap of the ball toward a teammate from a bounce, ball-up or throw-in. 'Hitouts to advantage' — taps a teammate actually receives cleanly — is the more telling refinement.

Example: He amassed 45 hitouts against the undersized backup ruck.
