What is Checkside (banana) in Australian Rules Football?

A kick that bends away from the kicker's body — the opposite curve to a normal snap — used from tight angles near the behind post. Also called a banana for its flight path.

Example: From the impossible angle he threaded a checkside through the big sticks.
