What is Play-action in American Football?
A pass play disguised as a run: the quarterback fakes a handoff to freeze the defense, then throws. It punishes defenses that commit hard to stopping the run and is a staple of nearly every offense.
Example: The play-action fake sucked in the linebackers and left the tight end wide open.
