What is Audible in American Football?
A change of play called by the quarterback at the line of scrimmage, shouted or signalled, after he reads the defensive alignment. Part of the pre-snap chess match that makes the seconds before each snap worth watching.
Example: Seeing single coverage outside, he audibled to a deep shot.
