What is Purple sector in Formula 1?
Timing screens colour a sector time purple when it is the fastest anyone has set in the session; green means a personal best, yellow slower than personal best. 'Going purple' means setting the outright fastest time.
Example: Purple in the first two sectors, but a scruffy final corner cost him pole.
