What is Power unit in Formula 1?

The complete hybrid propulsion package: turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 engine plus energy-recovery systems and battery. Teams get a limited allocation of components per season; exceeding it means grid penalties. The 2026 rules raise the electrical share to roughly half the total power and run on fully sustainable fuel.

Example: A power unit change under parc fermé sent him to the back of the grid.
