What is Chicane in Formula 1?

A tight left-right (or right-left) sequence of corners, often added to slow cars before a fast section. Chicanes are common overtaking and mistake zones because of the heavy braking they demand.

Example: He out-braked himself at the chicane and had to cut across the run-off.
