What is Increment in Chess?

Extra seconds added to a player's clock after every move they make, written after the plus sign in a time control — '3+2' means 3 minutes per player plus 2 seconds per move. Increments prevent games being decided purely by frantic clock-bashing.

Example: With the 2-second increment, he could never quite be flagged.
