What is Ashi-barai in Karate?

A foot sweep that takes the opponent's supporting or lead leg away to drop them. In WKF kumite a sweep only pays off if followed instantly by a scoring technique on the fallen opponent — which is worth ippon.

Example: Ashi-barai then a punch on the floored opponent: three points.
