What is Snatch in Weightlifting?

The first of the two competition lifts: the barbell is pulled from the floor to arms' length overhead in one continuous movement, usually caught in a deep overhead squat. It rewards speed, timing and mobility as much as strength.

Example: She opened her snatch series with a comfortable first attempt before chasing a personal best.
