What is Smash (kill) in Table Tennis?

A flat, maximum-speed hit against a high ball, ending the point with pace rather than spin. Against modern topspin play smashes are rarer than loops but remain the finisher for any ball that pops up.

Example: The lob finally sat up and he smashed it off the end of the court.
