What is Push in Table Tennis?

A controlled backspin stroke played over the table against short backspin balls — the neutral, safe reply that keeps the ball low and hard to attack. A pushing exchange usually ends when one player risks the first loop.

Example: They traded three short pushes before she flicked the fourth ball.
