What is Submission in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)?

A choke or joint lock that forces the opponent to concede — by tapping the mat or the opponent's body, or verbally. If a fighter refuses to tap, the referee stops the fight when they go unconscious or the joint is in danger, recorded as a technical submission.

Example: The armbar submission came just forty seconds into round two.
