What is Clinch in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)?

Close-range grappling while standing, often against the fence. Fighters battle for grips and underhooks to land knees, short elbows and trips, or to set up takedowns. Unlike boxing, MMA referees let clinch fighting continue as long as fighters are working.

Example: The round was fought almost entirely in the clinch along the fence.
