What is Gate in Alpine Skiing?

The unit of an alpine course: poles the racer must pass on the correct side, in order. In downhill, super-G and GS a gate is two poles joined by a coloured panel; in slalom it is single poles.

Example: Miss one gate anywhere on course and the run doesn't count.
