What is Downhill in Alpine Skiing?

The fastest alpine discipline: a single run down the longest course, with gates mostly guiding rather than forcing turns, plus jumps and gliding sections. The only event with mandatory pre-race training runs.

Example: Kitzbühel's Hahnenkamm downhill is the most feared race on the calendar.
