What is Rally in Tennis?

The exchange of shots after the serve, lasting until one player fails to make a legal return. Rally length is a signature of surface and style — quick-strike tennis on grass, 20-shot grinds on clay.

Example: A 31-shot rally at set point brought the crowd to its feet.
