What is Lob in Tennis?

A high, deep shot lifted over an opponent at the net, forcing them to retreat or attempt an overhead smash. Used defensively to buy time or offensively as a passing tactic.

Example: A perfect topspin lob sailed over the net-rusher and dipped inside the baseline.
