What is Advancement in Speed Skating?
The short track referee's power to promote a skater to the next round — or a final ranking — when someone else's foul took them down. It is how a crashed skater can still end up in, or even win, a final.
Example: Taken out in the semifinal, she was advanced to the A final by the referee.
