What is Slide in Lacrosse?

Defensive rotation: when a dodger beats his man, a nearby defender 'slides' to stop the ball while teammates rotate to cover. Offenses are built to attack the slide — the goal is rarely to beat one man, but to make the defense rotate and find the open man.
