What is Body check in Lacrosse?

Legal front-on contact against the ball carrier (or a player near a loose ball) between the shoulders and waist in men's lacrosse. Hits to the head, from behind, or on defenseless players are strictly penalized; women's field lacrosse bars deliberate body checking entirely.
