What is Glide wax in Cross-Country Skiing?

Wax applied to the running surface of the ski to reduce friction and maximize glide — the whole ski on a skate ski, the tips and tails on a classic ski. Fluorinated glide waxes, once the gold standard, are now banned in FIS competition.
